Our mission is to support one another and fellows hip with others who share a common entity; reading. We don't have a particular genre that we stick to because we want to expose ourselves to as much as we possibly can and we feel that the more variety we have, the more we learn. We do, however, read book written primarily by and about African American's and others of African decent but are open to reading almost anything. Our BC is primarily women but it is also open to men.
Girlfriends Book Club (GBC) is not only a book club but a sorority of some sort. Founded in 2004, Girlfriends Book Club has branched out to form a total of 3 chapters, including the Raleigh chapter. Not only do our members have a passion for reading, but they also have a place in their heart for volunteer activities, fundraisers and Black History awareness.
